Born from an egg on a mountaintop, Giles and Steve
formed JOHNNY DOMINO in the summer of 1993. Over the next 3-4 years
they recorded over 100 songs (which became known as THE
SHITHOUSE MASTERS) on a series of knackered 4-track recorders,
drafting in other players on an ad-hoc basis. Long-term S**THOUSE
alumni Jim became a full-time Domino in 1996, closely followed by
Marc.
As well as gigging, in May - June 1997
they recorded what would be their self-tiled
mini LP (released on Blackbean and Placenta, USA, 1999). Soon
after they started a much more ambitious home recording project,
recording over 30 tracks for what would be the RABBIT
THEMES CD.
After upgrading to an 8-track tape machine
they spent 1999 playing many TRIUMPHANT gigs, and recording the
PLAYERS
CD.
All those gigs must have knackered them,
as they saw in the new millenium by staying in and recording of
THE
FIRST 100 YEARS CD in 2001.
The next two years saw them playing live,
writing, drinking tea and recording SOLID
GROUND.
Shortly after releasing that album in 2004,
they finally discovered a drummer in their midst, the JeffBot 3000.
In 2005, Johnny Domino released the BEST
OF THE SHITHOUSE MASTERS compilation as a free download, featuring
the best of their earliest recordings. They also began a group MP3
Blog, Domino Rally,
where they talk about their favourite music.
They are currently recording and writing
new material for release in the near future.
